Robert Brown was a name partner at one of Hamilton’s largest full-service law firms for 23 years before establishing his own boutique corporate commercial law firm in 2001. With a significant corporate and commercial practice, he specializes in corporate, commercial and mergers and acquisitions law, including tax-driven corporate reorganizations, business establishment, commercial funding, commercial leasing, real estate sales and purchases and contract law. In addition, a significant part of his practice is providing high net worth clients with estate planning services involving complex primary and secondary wills, family trusts, alter ego trusts and other inter vivos trusts.
A large part of his practice is in tax driven corporate reorganizations and planning strategies such as section 85 and 86 Income Tax transactions, purifications, butterfly and similar tax minimization and tax deferred transactions.
Robert received a BA from McMaster University in 1973 and a JD from the university of Western Ontario in 1976 and called to the bar in Ontario in 1978. He is a member of the Canadian Bar Association, the Ontario Bar Association, the Hamilton Law Association and the American Bar Association.
Kyle De Benetti articled at Brown Law before returning as an associate lawyer following his call to the Bar of Ontario in 2022.
